Jessica has been dancing on and off since she was three. From the ages of 14-18, she took dance at Lifehouse Performing Arts Academy in Salem, Utah, a renowned dance academy which Burn Bright Dance Academy is modeled after.
After graduating High School, Jessica attended BYU where she majored in Mechanical Engineering. Although it wasn’t part of her major, Jessica’s love of dance never faded and she always took several dance classes every semester including: advanced ballet, intermediate pointe, advanced jazz, advanced tap, and folk dancing.
Although Jessica never participated in any of the dance companies at BYU, she was in many of the same classes as those who did. Jessica also participated in the master class program at BYU and had the opportunity to take classes from many prestigious teachers from around the state and country and be accepted into various semi or pre-professional programs.
At BYU she had the benefit of taking an entire semester of ballet from an American Ballet Theatre level 7 certified teacher. This incredible experience solidified Jessica’s knowledge of ballet terminology, and basic pedagogy.
Jessica has been teaching dance for 10 years. She is always trying to learn new things. It is not uncommon to see her at classes and dance camps dancing right up there with the teenagers.
Jessica loves every child who comes to dance with her, not just the naturally talented ones. As an exceptionally tall, gangly and awkward child herself, she is not afraid of a challenge. When she sees a child with a bad habit, instead of being annoyed, she thinks, “I used to do that. I can fix that.”
